Kara “Mac” MacFarland

Kara “Mac” MacFarland has been working in Optometry offices since 2013. First on the exam side, working with the doctor, before deciding to become an apprentice and deepen her understanding of optics and opticianry. She became a licensed Dispensing Optician in 2017. She also holds dual national certifications with the American Board of Opticians and National Contact Lens Examiners. Her special areas of interest include customizing lenses using the latest technology to achieve your best vision, hunting for the most stylish new independent frame brands, and changing the minds of patients who think they don’t look good in glasses. Mac is a glasses-aholic, and currently has 25+ pairs and counting! She believes that a sense of humor and a listening ear will always be the best tools to find what works for you.

“I like to think of my job as part stylist, part therapist, part scientist. Developing a relationship with my patients to understand who they are, how they spend their day-to-day, and what hobbies they’re passionate about is the most important part of what I do. People often don’t realize how much a properly chosen pair of glasses can positively impact their life!”

Mac lives in Watertown with her two spoiled dogs. When she’s not at work, she enjoys traveling the world, hiking, yoga, and creating art in many mediums.

Have the best of your eyesight for life.
